Visitor Information

Visiting a BWFH Patient

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital recognizes the important role that family members and visitors play in promoting the well being of patients, and to assist staff in their efforts to provide care in an environment of dignity, compassion and respect. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital does not restrict, limit, or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, citizenship, alienage, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age or disability. Please speak with your nurse about respectful visiting hours that will allow us to continue delivering high quality, safe care while allowing patients to interact with loved ones.

Finding Patient Information

To ask about a patient's condition, find out their room number or call the patient's room, please call 617-983-7101 or go to the 3rd floor Information Desk.

Visitation Rules

A family member or support person is welcome to visit at any time depending on the patient’s need for medical care/treatments, rest, privacy, safety and patient preference. A support person may include but not be limited to a spouse, adult child, parent, close relative, friend, domestic partner, and both different and same sex significant others. Children under the age of twelve must have adult supervision (other than the patient) at all times and may not be overnight visitors. Visitation may be limited due to patient’s condition and preference.

Family waiting areas are located on the First Floor for most outpatient procedure areas, outside the 5th Floor ICU, outside the 6th floor surgical suite, 6th Floor Family Resource Room and in the lobbies on the first and third floors.

Visiting After 8 pm

Family and friends are encouraged to visit until 8 pm to allow for patient’s medical and personal care needs to be met by health care staff. The entrance doors are locked after 8 pm. Visitors entering the hospital after 8pm must buzz to gain access and then report to the security desk in the Emergency Department lobby to obtain a visitors pass. The security officer will contact the patient’s unit with the visitor’s name and the nurse responsible for the patient will support the need for the visit based on the patient’s medical condition, safety concerns or preference for visitors. Upon clearance, a visitor pass must be provided and worn.
