Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital recognizes the important role that family members and visitors play in promoting the well being of patients, and to assist staff in their efforts to provide care in an environment of dignity, compassion and respect. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital does not restrict, limit, or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, citizenship, alienage, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age or disability. Please speak with your nurse about respectful visiting hours that will allow us to continue delivering high quality, safe care while allowing patients to interact with loved ones.
We understand these are unprecedented and challenging times we are facing. We hope you can take some comfort knowing that the staff at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is here to help support and protect you and your family. In response to decreasing rates of COVID-19 infection in the community, we have amended visitor restrictions in place.
**Please complete a brief screening on our prescreen app prior to arrival to expedite entry into our hospital. To learn more about receiving care during COVID-19, click here.**
For inpatient visitors
One visitor is permitted to visit inpatient units daily between 1 pm and 8 pm. This is for patients not isolated for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in the units that are able to meet the guidelines below.
For outpatient visitors
Effective June 15, 2021, we will welcome a single visitor per patient to our ambulatory, ancillary/procedural and emergency departments.
If you cannot find childcare and need to bring your child under the age of 18 years old with you, the child will need to join you in the exam room. Children must be supervised at all times.
Requirements for visitors (Essential and Non-Essential) and Support Persons
All visitors who wish to enter a Mass General Brigham hospital or doctor’s office must comply with the Massachusetts travel order.
All Visitors and Support Persons will be screened for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, myalgia, or new onset of loss of taste or smell). No individuals with any symptoms are allowed. Visitors and Support Persons with active COVID-19 infection will not be permitted. Visitors (Essential and Non-Essential) and Support Persons on the day of the visit can use the Mass General Brigham Prescreen tool or complete a screening in person.
No visitors under the age of 18 years old are allowed in the hospital unless the visitor is a child of a patient. People waiting to visit a patient should wait outside the hospital, rather than in hospital waiting rooms, until the time of their visit.
Visitors and Support Persons will not be permitted if the visitation poses a significant infection control risk to the patients, visitor, or staff.
We understand that emotional support is an important component of care, now more than ever, and encourage patients and loved ones to use technology to stay connected. Tablets are available on inpatient units for patient use.
If you have questions about our visitation policies or would like to share complaints or compliments about your experience with us, please contact our Patient and Family Relations team by calling 617-983-4507 between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, or email us at BWFHPFR@partners.org.
Visitors are expected to help keep our hospital a safe place for all patients, visitors and staff by:
Wearing the provided mask properly while on premises
Frequently washing their hands or using the hand sanitizer available across the hospital campus
Visitors are welcome to utilize our cafeteria. We will create a designated distanced dining area in the cafeteria for those who need or feel more comfortable with distanced dining.
Family and friends seeking information about a patient's condition or looking for their room number/telephone number can call 617-983-7101 or go to the 3rd floor Information Desk. Please note that patients have the right to limit access to information and condition.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to maintain the safest possible environment for our community.
