Services for Inpatients

Social Work

Our social workers are highly trained to help you and your family members with personal matters during your inpatient hospital stay. They can provide:

  • Emotional support and assistance with communication between patients, families and healthcare providers.
  • Counseling around chronic illness, a new diagnosis or medical decision making needs during your hospitalization.
  • Referral information about healthcare conditions, family issues and other stressors that impact one’s health.

If you are an inpatient, to talk to a member of our social work team, call 617-983-7932 or speak with your nurse.

If you are an outpatient, social work services may be available in the Addiction Recovery Program, in the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Breast Center and in Psychiatry.

Social work services may also be available through your primary care provider.
