Meeting with Nancy Oliveira was the first time I spoke to anyone in the field of nutrition. I had lost weight on the Atkins diet and then went the other extreme on a vegan diet. I regained weight on both. Like most people, it seems we get all of our nutritional facts from sources such as newspapers, magazines, and worst of all television where we are all promised quick and easy ways of weight loss, physical fitness and nutritional health. Nancy separated these myths from facts and laid out a sustainable program of healthy nutrition: a way you can live your life without depriving yourself just by using simple common sense, such as portion control, selecting what foods to eat, and what to stay away from. It may not be a quick fix but it does work over time along with staying active. I am losing weight and feel GREAT. At my December meeting with my endocrinologist, my hemoglobin A1C was 7.2. At that meeting, she suggested I contact the nutrition clinic. I spoke with Nancy and scheduled a visit. I found Nancy to be professional, knowledgeable, and a caring person. We went over all aspects of nutrition, and she presented me with all kinds of helpful ideas to lower my blood sugar. I then had another meeting with Nancy which my wife attended, at which time Nancy presented new food options to achieve my lower A1C. I just visited with my M.D. in February and my A1C was 6.4.
