The staff at the John R. Graham Head Center at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital have put together the following resources to assist patients during the COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus 2019) health emergency.
90-day medication supply
In an effort to promote social distancing during the COVID-19 public health emergency, we are happy to send 90-day supplies of medications to reduce trips to the pharmacy.
Delay botox injection for chronic migraine prevention
To promote social distancing and help the COVID-19 response efforts, botox injections will be delayed until after April 10, 2020.
Resources for Headache Patients
This is a time of uncertainty and anxiety. It is difficult for everyone. Despite the changes to in-person clinic care, we are doing our best to remain available via telemedicine and Mass General Brigham Patient Gateway messages.
We would like to share some resources and tips with you to help with headaches in this challenging time:
- Please try to keep a regular sleep, exercise, and meal schedule even if your work has changed and you are staying home. The migraine brain does not like changes.
- Please try to stay socially connected even if it is in virtual ways.
- When staying inside, please try to open a window if possible to get fresh air.
- Keep the larger picture in mind. You are a headache warrior. You have gotten through a lot and will continue to push through.
- Try to stretch and/or do some exercises every day.
American Migraine Foundation Facebook Lives
Starting next week, the American Migraine Foundation will have a series of Facebook Live events to promote resilience and wellness through this challenging time. Once the videos are uploaded on Youtube after the events, the videos will be added to the video links to their website.
The American Migraine Foundation put a statement on migraine management in the context of the COVID-19 health emergency and links to resources here.
Virtual Mindfulness Session
Dr. Wells, a former Graham Headache Center fellow, designed a free virtual mindfulness session. There is a pre- and post-survey to fill to help her assess the usefulness of her sesssion.
