A new, streamlined process that makes it easier for staff to report instances of unprofessional behavior in the workplace launched on April 1. Reports submitted using the new professional conduct reporting tool, located within the Brigham Health Safety Reporting System (RL), are routed to a small, central group of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital leaders who reviews reports and, as appropriate, makes recommendations to department leadership, and others, on a need-to-know basis. You can learn more about the new professional conduct tool and other programs at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital that offer professionalism support on BWFHconnect.
The standard anesthesia consent form used at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has been revised to be consistent across Mass General Brigham and to meet new regulations from the Board of Registration in Medicine. Effective April 5, all old anesthesia consent forms should be discarded, and only the new forms should be used. Old forms are identifiable by the form identification numbers “65080” and “65080S” for Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. The new forms are available in English and Spanish. The video features New England Patriots Matthew Slater and Devin McCourty, both of whom were hesitant to receive the vaccine until they learned the facts. Slater’s wife, Shahrzad Slater, MD from BMC, joins with O’Neil Britton, MD, Senior Vice President, Operations, and Associate Chief Operating Officer, Mass General Brigham, and Dr. Sebastian Hamilton from BMC to answer vaccine questions from Slater and McCourty. Watch the video to learn the vaccine facts from the experts.

Gene Beresin, MD and Khadijah Booth Watkins, MD, MPH, from the Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds at Mass General Hospital have developed materials for families that look at the different anxieties and concerns of kids and teens and how parents can address them as families prepare to return to school.
Many families have been homebound due to COVID-19 and kids and teens have been learning online across much of the country. As the pandemic continues, there are growing concerns about how the disruptions in norms and routines are affecting their mental health. In addition, as more communities are preparing to bring students back to school in person there are new challenges and concerns for families. Is it safe to go back? Will kids feel ready for a full schedule of in-person or hybrid learning? Will they be able to catch up academically?
Visit the Clay Center for Young Health Minds website to learn more.
