Construction update: Shuttle bus expansion project nears completion

Work is near completion on the shuttle bus expansion project outside the third-floor hillside entrance. Today, Tuesday, February 21, crews will be on site paving the area. Please be aware, the smell of asphalt may be noticeable in and around the third-floor hillside entrance. For the most up-to-date information on the campus expansion project, visit BWFH.org/Building. Helping pre-teens and teens manage anxiety

If your family has kids who are dealing with anxiety, you are not alone. Anxiety has been increasing in this population for the last several years, with levels rising 27 percent between 2016 and 2019. The good news is that anxiety is highly treatable, and families are more willing to talk about it than in the past. In this month’s EAP Ask the Expert feature, the EAP partners with Khadijah Watkins, MD, MPH, from MGH Psychiatry, to help parents and caregivers recognize and address anxiety in adolescents.

Andrea Pusic, MD, MHS, FACS, FRCSC, Chief of Brigham and Women’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a surgeon here at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, was recently featured in U.S. News & World Report in an article detailing the safety of breast implants and the difference between saline and silicone implants. Temporary Chestnut Hill Mall parking lot now open

During the construction process for our campus expansion project, parking on site at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital will be extremely limited. To minimize the impact to our patients and visitors, some staff members have been temporarily assigned to a new parking lot at the Chestnut Hill Mall, which opens this week. Shuttle bus service is available between the hours of 5 am and 8:55 pm. For more information on the shuttle bus service, click here.

New Atrium Café hours beginning February 27

In an effort to better serve our patrons, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is piloting a new schedule in the Atrium Café. Beginning Monday, February 27, the café will open at 5:30 am and close at 6 pm, Monday through Friday. The new hours are temporary and will remain in effect for three months. Permanent café hours will be communicated when the pilot program concludes. The Atrium Café is located in the first-floor lobby and offers a variety of Starbucks specialty coffees and espresso beverages, Tevana teas, sandwiches, wraps and salads. Our baked goods come from Delectable Desires located here in West Roxbury.

March 8 is International Women’s Day - submit your ‘Strike the #EmbraceEquity pose’ photo

Wednesday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity, and Mass General Brigham requesting that you submit a photo of yourself, your family or a group of colleagues striking the #EmbraceEquity pose by Monday, March 6.

Mass General Brigham will include your photo in an International Women’s Day slideshow and possibly on social media. Thank you in advance for giving equity a huge embrace. Please note, when snapping your photo, be sure to follow Mass General Brigham’s masking guidelines.

Tip: Make Zoom meetings private

Don’t put your Zoom meetings at risk for intruders. Enable security features like Waiting room, Meeting registration, and passcodes. Avoid posting Zoom meeting details on social media, or other public forums. Questions? Contact your Information Security Officer or Privacy Officer.

New scheduling and timekeeping system coming in July

In July 2023, UKG Dimensions will become the timekeeping and scheduling system for Mass General Brigham, replacing Kronos Workforce Central and OneStaff. This modern workforce management system will be easier to use, mobile-enabled and offer easy access to your work schedule and weekly timesheet. In addition, you will use the tool to submit time off requests and make any necessary corrections. Learn more on the Pulse.

Discounted Boston College basketball tickets available for March 4 game

Boston College Athletics is offering Mass General Brigham employees discounted tickets to the Eagles’ game against Georgia Tech on Saturday, March 4, at 2:30 pm at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill. Purchase discounted tickets here and view parking options for the game here. Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine is the official provider of care to Boston College athletic teams.

Reminder: Complete your annual training today

Please take a moment to review the courses that have been assigned to you in HealthStream as part of annual training. To ensure that each employee receives a customized training package relevant to their role, some assignments have been refined. 
All Mass General Brigham employees must complete their training package by Saturday, April 1.

BWFH Volunteer Opportunity: Community Servings - March 7

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Department is seeking volunteers to help prepare meals for critically ill individuals and their families in our community. Join us on Tuesday, March 7, from 4 to 7 pm at Community Servings (179 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain) to peel, chop and package meals for Community Servings’ clients. Volunteers must be 13 years or older, vaccinated against COVID-19 (please have proof of vaccination when you arrive) and register in advance. Office Supply Swap Sponsored by the Emerging Leaders Committee - March 7 and 8

Do you need office supplies? Before you place that Staples order for toner, paper, binders and more, visit the Office Supply Swap and grab what you’re looking for! Please note, we cannot accept electronics such as printers, fax machines, etc. Leftover items will be recycled or donated to local organizations.
