Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital received approval for the Determination of Need (DoN) submission in May 2022 to begin working on a campus expansion program to better support care in our communities. Construction began in May of 2023.

Third-Floor Hillside Garage
Work has begun on retaining walls and final site grading. In addition, work is underway on the interior of the garage, including drywall and elevator installation.
Inpatient Addition
Work is progressing for the inpatient addition with interior work and exterior wall installation ongoing. Staff and patients should expect intermittent disruptions to the loop road during this time.
Street Enhancements
Temporary stripping is complete on Centre Street and final signs have been installed. Repaving and final stripping will occur in the fall. The Bluebikes docking station is now complete.
Please note, new curbing will be installed along the sidewalk across from Springhouse on Allandale Street beginning September 9. This work will require partial lane closures. Work is expected to be complete by September 20.
Sidewalk repairs at the intersection of Allandale and Centre Streets will impact the flow of traffic beginning Monday, September 16, through Wednesday, September 18, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. A police detail will be in place to direct the flow of traffic, but partial lane closures will result in delays.
Interior and Roof
Work is also underway inside the hospital and on the roof to accommodate the new inpatient addition. During this time, expect there will be increased noise and possible disturbances within the hospital. Individual departments that will be directly impacted will be notified in advance to allow them to prepare and mitigate any possible disruptions to operations.
Please note, Boston Fire Department will be testing fire alarms on Thursday, September 12, at 9:30 a.m. This is just a test. No action is needed by employees or patients.
