Susan Bezanson Patient Safety Award

Sue Bezanson was once described as an unrelenting spirit with a passion for both the great outdoors and her career in transfusion medicine. Sue was focused on patient safety and quality assurance, in her personal life as a ski patroller as well as in her professional life, spearheading numerous patient safety initiatives at BWFH. Sue’s participation on several interdisciplinary committees shed light on the vital role of ancillary services in patient care. Sue was a champion for all patients and was the recipient of the Norman Sadowsky Award for Excellence prior to her death from breast cancer in 2008.

The Susan Bezanson Patient Safety Award is presented annually to a BWFH employee who demonstrates superior levels of excellence and the same dedication to patient safety and quality care that Sue exhibited.

Each year this award goes to an individual who best exemplifies these qualities in their work; all BWFH staff and providers are eligible. The winner will receive an award during the Service Awards presentation ceremony and will be honored on a permanent display within the hospital.
