Winnicki named ICU Chief APP

Jordan Winnicki, PA-C, has been named Chief Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the ICU at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Winnicki, who studied Biomedical Sciences as an undergraduate at Rochester Institute of Technology and earned his master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, joined the Department of Medicine on the ICU in the fall of 2019. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he was there as a trusted physician assistant, demonstrating a deep commitment to the ICU, his patients and his interdisciplinary colleagues. Now, as Chief APP for the ICU, he will take on an expanded role focused on the education of his critical care colleagues, teambuilding and quality metrics and innovation.

Winnicki takes on his new role with the full support of ICU and hospital leadership. In a joint statement from Chief Medical Officer and VP of Medical Affairs Scott Schissel, MD, MPH, and Chief of Critical Care and Respiratory Medical Director Robert Tarpy, MD, Winnicki is praised for his dedication to his work. “Jordan has been an integral member of the BWFH ICU team ever since his arrival in the fall 2019,” they write. “He was instrumental in assuring a smooth transition to the ICU APP model and was a steadfast provider during our challenges with COVID-19. During these times, Jordan has stood out as a skilled provider and leader. I am excited that Jordan has accepted this position as Chief APP and I look forward to working with him in his efforts to advance and expand our efforts in the ICU and to tackle the inevitable challenges that may be ahead of us.”

For Winnicki, the new role is an opportunity for which he is truly grateful. “With the continued evolution of the ICU under the MD-APP model, the stage has been set for our team to take the next steps to grow our service. Ongoing collaboration between our talented group of APPs, MDs, RNs, and RTs will be integral to the ongoing improvements to the services we provide to the hospital and surrounding community. I am excited and optimistic for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
