We Care: Recent I CARE winners go above and beyond to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care

Winter 2019 I CARE Winners

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. This fall, the Rewards and Recognition Committee has delivered I CARE Awards to staff members from throughout the hospital.

Among them were:

Emergency Department Unit Secretary Sade Levine who helped a behavioral health patient who called the ED by asking police to perform a wellness check on the caller. The patient was ultimately brought to the ED and received care.

PCA Sheffar Gibbs was recognized for always exhibiting the I CARE Standards when working in the PACU. His coworkers describe him as hardworking and reliable, and caring and nurturing to his patients.

Sara Rua Lujan, Cora Wright, Ryan Fogaren and Haqikah Greaves from the Outpatient Lab who have continued to provide excellent patient care despite the challenge of a temporary location. They have even gone so far as to travel to Interventional Radiology patients for their blood draws prior to procedures in order to improve the patient experience.

Shashalee Reid, Ambulatory Nursing Operations Coordinator, showed how much she cares on Christmas Eve when she returned to work after her shift had ended to complete patient discharges when she realized that due to the holiday GI patients had not been properly discharged.

Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit Vitals. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Cafe. At the end of the year, all I CARE Award recipients will be invited to a reception.
