Respiratory Therapists Receive I CARE Awards

Anna Wong-Tse and Maria Fridman receive their I CARE Awards

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Respiratory Therapists Maria Fridman and Anna Wong-Tse both recently received I CARE Awards.

Fridman and Wong-Tse were both nominated for their I CARE Awards by ICU Nurse Director Estier Sayegh, BSN, RN, CNRN, PCCN, CCRN.

In her nomination letter for Fridman, Sayegh wrote:

Maria is a very compassionate and caring Respiratory Therapist. She anticipates the needs of all department responsibilities in addition to her daily clinical responsibility. She is very organized and never flustered or overwhelmed. Maria is also a great mentor as she reviewed ventilators with us at the height of the pandemic and yet she reviewed them again with me for a refresher. She is absolutely a great teacher and we often rely on her for critical questions in respiratory. She also prepares for the night shifts so they can have everything ready for their shift. I find Maria to be extremely helpful and reliable when her manager is on vacation or taking a day off. She naturally assumes responsibilities without being asked. She is extremely supportive and caring not only for her coworkers but also for myself and the organization. I can’t thank Maria enough for continuous support, help and commitment. It is my honor and pleasure to have Maria Fridman on my team.

Sayegh had similar good things to say about Wong-Tse, writing:

Anna is a very compassionate and caring Respiratory Therapist. She anticipates the needs of all department responsibilities in addition to her daily clinical responsibilities. She is organized and methodical in completing her assigned and non-assigned work. Anna is also a great mentor and preceptor as she helped teaching ventilators to nursing staff in the Emergency Department and helps orient new staff for respiratory. She is absolutely a great teacher and we often rely on her for critical questions in respiratory. She also prepares for the night shift so they can have everything ready for their shift. Anna is extremely helpful and reliable when her manager is on vacation or taking a day off. She naturally assumes responsibilities without being asked. She is extremely supportive and caring not only for her coworkers but also for myself and the organization. I can’t thank Anna enough for her continuous support, help and commitment. When Anna is working, I have the sense of confidence and security that the job is getting done above and beyond. It is my honor and pleasure to have Anna Wong-Tse on my team.

Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit BWFHconnect. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Cafe.
