Pilot program brings healthcare home for acutely ill patients

Years ago, it was common for doctors to make house calls. In our modern healthcare system, that practice is almost unheard of. But a new Brigham Health pilot program is revisiting the idea. Some very ill patients who present to the Emergency Department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital are being admitted to home rather than to the hospital, where they can heal in a relaxing, comfortable and familiar environment while benefiting from all that modern medicine can offer.
