Operations Manager for Perioperative Services receives I CARE Award

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Elizabeth Torres, Operations Manager for Perioperative Services, was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.

Torres was nominated for her I CARE Award by Senior Director of Surgical and Procedural Services Jeffrey Blackwell and Director of Perioperative Business Services Paul Riley who wrote in their nomination letter:

On Sunday, July 18, the BWFH Central Processing Department (CPD) experienced a flood after an air handler mechanical failure. While many departments and individuals assisted, Liz Torres stepped in and lead the various teams seamlessly and with great efficiency to ensure that OR cases continued for our patients despite our department being moved to various locations across the hospital. Liz had a great plan and worked with CPD team members to make sure all steps were followed. She graciously volunteered to come in early, work late and come in on the weekend to make sure everything was all set. Thanks to her leadership, there were limited impacts to the operating rooms during the week that CPD was under repair.

Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit BWFHconnect. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Cafe.
