BWFH is the first hospital in Massachusetts to offer the Sonata® System as a treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids.
Mass General Brigham requires that all employees, including those working remotely, receive a flu vaccine unless they are approved for a medical or religious exemption.
Have you acquired hospital scrubs in recent months? Each year, BWFH spends more than $40,000 replacing scrubs for our employees. You can help reduce this cost!
The hospital is hosting a series of scrubs amnesty days, in which you can turn in these garments, so that they may be returned to our vendor.
Please return your scrubs to any soiled linen hamper throughout the hospital or reach out to Jorge Villanueva extension 7976 if you have questions.

Many of us are fighting silent battles alone, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and racial unrest in our country. It doesn’t have to be this way. Support, a listening ear and guidance are available to you. For resources and information, please visit our website page on suicide. Mass General Brigham’s Human Resources, in partnership with Jewish Vocational Services (JVS), is offering a free, 4-week program to assist employees and their families or friends to attain U.S. citizenship. The classes, facilitated by JVS staff, are once per week, and will be held virtually via Zoom. All class materials will be posted to Google Classroom, so participants can access the materials outside of the class. The next start dates are September 24 and October 26. Click here to learn more.
As a result of the national coin shortage affecting the United States, BWFH's cafeteria is asking employees to bring in their rolled coins from home to exchange for paper money. As an incentive, employees who bring in quarters (preferred), dimes or nickels worth $50 or more will receive a free lunch as a thank you! Questions? Contact John Dantona at extension 7452.
Proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE) are key to the protection of our staff and patients, and more critical than ever in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To ensure our staff are educated and prepared to properly don and doff PPE, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has introduced a new online HealthStream course that will be required for all employees who have been FIT tested. The new course, which only takes 15-20 minutes to complete, is now available. New employees requiring fit testing will complete the course as part of their new hire orientation program.
“Providing a standardized, online learning module on donning and doffing techniques helps us meet our Safe Care Commitment,” said Colleen West, DNP, MBA, RN, CPHQ, Executive Director of Nursing Professional Development, Practice and Innovation who was involved in the creation of the course. “This new training will reinforce our knowledge of donning/doffing, conserve PPE supplies, and allow us to keep all staff and patients safe.”
As of September 2, 2020, providers no longer have to specify the patient’s preferred location for testing.
In addition, a new travel indication (“Travel Screen for Visitor or Returning Resident entering MA”) is available for use. You can find additional information on the eCare training materials site.
