Employee Mental Health Support and Well-Being

There are many ways this crisis might affect your mental health and emotional well-being. There is no need to worry alone.  Support is available through the following resources and services.

Want a Free Lunch?  Bring in Your Rolled Coins

As a result of the national coin shortage affecting the United States, BWFH's cafeteria is asking employees to bring in their rolled coins from home to exchange for paper money. As an incentive, employees who bring in quarters (preferred), dimes or nickels worth $50 or more will receive a free lunch as a thank you! Questions? Contact John Dantona at extension 7452.

Extension of Remote Work

Mass General Brigham has decided to extend remote work through June of 2021 for individuals who have been directed by their managers to work remotely. While this decision was difficult, we must lead by example and support Governor Baker’s request to work remotely wherever possible. In addition, we carefully considered our responsibilities as a health care system and the largest private employer in Massachusetts. Continuing remote work for approximately 25% of our population allows us to reduce the density of our workplaces and reduce the number of people who travel on public transportation, ensuring that social distancing is maintained. Please note, you may be asked to return to the worksite sooner if your manager indicates that your job responsibilities require it.

Recognize a Colleague with an I CARE Award

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. The Rewards and Recognition Committee has delivered I CARE Awards to staff members from throughout the hospital.  Nominate a colleague today!

Stepping Strong Innovator Awards – Deadline Extended Until August 28

The Stepping Strong Center is accepting applications for the 2020 Stepping Strong Innovator Awards.  The awards fund research and innovation to improve the prevention, treatment and care of traumatic injury and its associated recovery. You can learn more about the application process, the focus areas of the 2020 Innovator Awards, and the responsibilities of Award winners here or view the FAQs.  The deadline to apply is August 28, 2020.

Enhanced Dependent Care Support

In the recent survey of working parents and caregivers, more than 6,000 Mass General Brigham employees shared their concerns and struggles with caring for and educating their children and other family members.

We are now offering access to discounted tutoring, test prep, enrichment classes and virtual or in-home learning pods to help families navigate this challenging time. Our expanded partnership with Bright Horizons can also help you locate an in-home child care provider, elder care services, pet care and housekeepers. To read more about these available resources, visit the Arranging for Dependent Care section of the Coronavirus FAQs on Ask myHR.
