COVID-19 Updates

Stay Vigilant to Beat COVID-19

We continue to closely monitor the rates of COVID-19 and remain in close communication with state officials to combat a potential second surge. As health care workers, we need to continue to take measures to keep our patients and employees safe and prevent the spread of the virus. As a reminder, Infection Control’s Blueprint for Infection Control after the COVID-19 Surge includes information about working together safely while maskedFace masks and social distancing in our hospitals remain as important as ever, including in common breakrooms and eating areas, and they are critical components of our Safe Care Commitment, which assures patients, visitors and employees that we have created the safest possible environment for all in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Stop the Spread Campaign Launched Statewide

Massachusetts recently launched the Stop the Spread initiative, which provides free testing to residents in targeted communities throughout the Commonwealth.  The initiative is a data-driven focused effort to reduce the prevalence of COVID-19 in communities that are above the state average in total cases, positive test rate, and have experienced a decline in testing levels since April. These sites are open to all residents of the Commonwealth through September 12.

For Clinicians: Updates to Mass General Brigham COVID-19 Related Policies

We regularly review COVID-19-related clinical policies to ensure that they reflect the best available published guidance and take into account the current clinical situation at our institutions. Policy decisions are made collaboratively and are based on ongoing risk-assessments of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. On July 10, updates were made to the testing criteria. Moving forward, updates will be sent out only when changes have been made. For a list of current active policies and associated guidance documents, visit the COVID-19 clinical policies site.
