This 3-session virtual course will introduce the practice of mindfulness to help manage stress and improve well-being. It will include guided mindfulness practices, interactive activities and instructor led group discussions. Participants will receive handouts, develop skills and gain resources to establish an ongoing mindfulness practice and learn how to use mindfulness to better respond to life’s stressors. The course runs Mondays from 6:30 to 8 pm on May 10, 17 and 24. Through a pilot grant from MGB System Behavioral and Mental Health Pilot Grant, program fees are fully covered for Mass General Brigham employees and their immediate family members. Information Systems is excited to share that Tap-N-Go is now at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital:
We are over a year into the pandemic and many of us continue to work in a hybrid or fully remote environment. Now is a good time to revisit your remote work habits and privacy settings. Review best practices and learn more here. Contact the Brigham Health Privacy Office with questions, BWHCHIPAA@partners.org.

With life hopefully transitioning to a “new normal” soon, this is a good time to consider what is safe and healthy for you in terms of online habits. We have all relied on technology more in the past year in order to stay connected and maintain activities. This has led to increased opportunities for those who want to lure us into fraud or scams. Additionally, some may find that technology use is overshadowing other activities or personal connections and creating stress. This article in the EAP website News and Features Section offers helpful guidance when evaluating your internet safety and technology use.
Fidelity Investments, the plan administrator for Mass General Brigham Retirement Savings Plans, notified us yesterday of a communication being sent to registered nurses in Massachusetts. The letter appears to come from “Fidelity Financial Benefits Group” in Hoboken, NJ and asks recipients to provide personal information in exchange for information about tax-advantaged retirement benefits now available to nurses in Massachusetts. Recipients are asked to provide personal information in an envelope addressed to a P.O. Box in Belmont, MA. This letter is not from Fidelity or Mass General Brigham and is an attempt to fraudulently obtain personal information from nurses licensed in Massachusetts. If you receive a written communication that appears to come from Fidelity and want to verify its legitimacy, please call Fidelity Investments’ Mass General Brigham call center at 1-855-999-1747.
Visit BWFH’s cafeteria this week for several special offerings:
To enhance COVID-19 vaccination efforts among Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital employees, there will be 5 reserved slots per day at BWH’s Hale Vaccine Clinic for BWFH employees to receive either a first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccination. These slots are not accessible via COVID Pass. If you are not able to find a vaccine slot via COVID Pass, or don’t use COVID Pass, please contact BWFH’s Occupational Health at 617-983-4628, or go to the 7th floor office to get assistance with scheduling at the Hale Vaccine Clinic.
As a reminder, all health care workers are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under the state’s vaccination plan. Employees may take time during their workday to get vaccinated and should coordinate with their manager.
Mass General Brigham is looking for clinical, administrative and operations leaders to help run our vaccine clinics (see full list of locations) and provide some relief to our colleagues who have been working 6-7 days a week. If you are a clinician (ex. RN, APP) with operations experience, practice manager or other administrative manager, please email phssystemlaborpool@PARTNERS.ORG to express your interest.
Last week, a safety report was submitted regarding equipment use on an inpatient floor. Read the complete edition of Last Week In Patient Safety.
