BWFH Lighting Upgrades Scheduled to Begin October 14

Beginning on Wednesday, October 14, a team of contractors from CCMS Lighting will be onsite to upgrade our existing light fixtures with light emitting diodes (LEDs). The new LEDs will require a fraction of the energy and improve the lighting quality in our facilities. A total of 4,541 fixtures will be upgraded to give us an estimate annual energy savings of over 550,000 kWh. Clinical leaders should expect to be contacted by Facilities and Support Service Project Manager Emily Jenkins within the next week to coordinate the work that will take place within their spaces.

Reminder: Flu Vaccination Exemption Requests Are Due By October 15

In order to protect the safety of one another and our patients, all employees must receive a flu vaccine by November 13 unless they are approved for a medical or religious exemption. Medical and religious exemption requests are due by October 15.

Medical Exemption Requests must be submitted to Occupational Health Services (OHS) no later than October 15. If you had an accepted medical exemption last year, you do not need to submit a new one. OHS will determine if your request meets the CDC criteria for medical exemption. Access and submit your completed form:

You will receive a notification from OHS as to whether your request for a medical exemption was accepted or denied.

Religious Exemption Requests must be submitted to Human Resources no later than October 15. Complete the Religious Exemption Request form. You will receive an email from HR as to whether your request for a religious exemption was accepted or denied.

More flu vaccination information can be found on The Pulse.

Cafeteria Offering Call Ahead Lunch Service

BWFH staff can call the cafeteria between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm at extension 1301 to place a lunch order for pickup. Orders will be ready in either 15 or 30 minutes and will be available for pickup in the new cubbies outside the cafeteria. Call ahead items can be chosen from a limited menu that includes salads, wraps, the daily hot entrée and sides, drinks, chips and desserts, and staff will be able to prepay for their meal by payroll deduction or credit card. This new service is intended to help cut down on the number of people in the cafeteria during lunchtime so that we can all maintain proper social distancing protocols. Questions or comments? Contact John Dantona.

Former Respiratory Therapist Passes Away

The Respiratory Department would like to inform the BWFH community of the passing of former long-time employee, Charles ‘Charlie’ Rox, age 79. He worked at the Friendly Faulkner for over 30 years as a respiratory therapist, until his retirement many years ago. He was a true southern gentleman with a calm demeanor that comforted the patients he cared for. Charlie was a huge Patriots fan, loved listening to Jazz music, and spent his free time fishing on Cape Cod. He leaves behind his wife, four children, and five siblings. Services for Charlie will be held on Thursday, October 15 at the Russell and Pica funeral home in West Bridgewater, MA. Viewing at 11 am, service at 12 noon with a private burial for family following the services.
