BWFH celebrates National Doctors’ Day - March 30

The first Doctor’s Day observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia. Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. National Doctors’ Day is now celebrated every year on March 30 in the United States, and symbolized by a red carnation. Here at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, March 30, 2022 is a day to celebrate our physicians and another year of excellence.

Supporting and empowering our disability community

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and the Mass General Brigham Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) would like to share some resources you can utilize to support and empower the diverse and intersectional members of our disability community throughout Mass General Brigham.

The Breaking Assumptions toolkit is designed to help our employees better understand how they can support colleagues with disabilities and create a more inclusive workplace. The toolkit features sections on language, disclosing disabilities and available resources. There is a toolkit dedicated to supporting employees and another dedicated to supporting managers. If you have any questions, please contact Jarrod Chin.

In addition, DE&I is creating a systemwide Disability & Mental Health Employee Resource Group (ERG) and has developed a survey to gather your feedback for this new ERG. Please take a moment to complete our survey. Your input will help determine how the ERG can best support employees from across the system. For questions, please contact DE&I.
