Coming soon! Your new BWFH ID badge
Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital employees will soon receive a new ID badge. Our new badges have been redesigned to reflect our Mass General Brigham branding and incorporate enterprise-wide standards for displaying names and credentials. All badges, regardless of role, will now list the employee’s first and last name and credentials will be limited to two—highest level of education and highest licensure. Starting today, your department head will begin to distribute new badges, which become active on Thursday, December 15, at 2 am. For exempt/hourly employees that are working the night shift that day, you will need to swipe in using your current badge and swipe out with your new badge. Should you have any issues, feel free to use the Kronos eform for that shift.

Partial Hospital Program expands capacity
Good news! The Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has recently expanded access its Psychiatry and Dual Diagnosis Partial Hospital Programs. The short-term stabilization and treatment programs focus on patient-centered care in the hands of psychiatry and addiction experts. Our partial is unique in that it provides a general psychiatry track for individuals coping with psychiatric issues and a dual diagnosis track for individuals who have co-occurring substance use disorders. It’s ideal for individuals recently discharged from an inpatient hospital stay or the emergency department, or for those in the community at risk of worsening of symptoms that would require hospitalization or who may need more intensive, daily treatment with a mental health provider.
If you have a patient who could benefit from either track at our Partial Hospital Program, don’t delay, make a referral today. Simply download a Partial Hospital Program referral form from BWFH’s website. A PDF version and an editable Word document are available. Return the completed form by fax to 617-983-4688. Questions? Contact Medical Director Benjamin L. Yudkoff, MD, MA or Saria El Haddad, MD.

A message from BWFH’s Spiritual Care Services: Hanukkah begins December 18
From sundown on Sunday, December 18, to sundown on Monday, December 26, Jews celebrate Hanukkah. Known as the Festival of Lights or Feast of Dedication, Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple of Jerusalem after a small but mighty force of Jews, known as the Maccabees defeated occupying Greek forces. When they lit the Temple’s menorah, a seven- or nine-branched candelabra, the flame lasted eight days despite having only one day’s supply of oil. In memory of this miracle, nightly lighting of the menorah is at the heart of Hanukkah observance. Other traditional Hanukkah practices include good works and increased Torah-observance, eating special foods such as potato latkes and jelly-filled sufganya or doughnuts, playing dreidel games and giving Hanukkah gelt or money.
Join us on Wednesday, December 21, at 11 am in the Chapel for a Hanukkah service led by our Staff Chaplain, Linda Skolnik. Chag urim sameach to all who celebrate!
