IV team staff nurses earn certification

Christine Canavan, BSN, RN, CRNI, and Violeta Ramirez, BSN, RN, CRNI

IV Team staff nurses Christine Canavan, BSN, RN, and Violeta Ramirez, BSN, RN, recently completed the Infusion Nurses Society’s certified registered nurse infusion specialty certification, meaning they can now add CRNI to their credentials.

“I am so proud of Christine and Vi for continuing their education,” says IV Team Nurse Director Mary Anne Barry, MBA, BSN, RN. “A CRNI is nationally recognized as the most informed and highly qualified infusion nursing specialist, and an advocate for improving patient care.”

For Canavan, earning certification was part of a commitment to grow in her nursing practice. “I have been on the IV Team for four years and last year I officially made it a goal to earn certification,” she says. “It’s a great feeling of accomplishment to know I reached my goal and to know I can provide my patients with the highest quality care possible.”

Ramirez’s motivation was also professional development. “This certification provides me more confidence in providing patient care and self-satisfaction in my professional role,” she says.
