Hergrueter receives Sadowsky Award for Excellence

Charles Hergrueter, MD

The Dr. Norman L. Sadowsky Award for Excellence goes to an individual who best exemplifies the qualities Dr. Sadowsky himself demonstrated throughout his illustrious career. This year’s recipient, announced during the annual Employee Service Awards, is Section Chief of Plastic Surgery Charles Hergrueter, MD.

Dr. Sadowsky made extraordinary contributions to BWFH’s patients and staff during his more than 40 years of leadership in radiology. As a radiologist, colleague, friend, teacher, researcher and administrator, he always brought the highest levels of caring, compassion, creativity and service excellence to his work.

Much like Dr. Sadowsky, Dr. Hergrueter is dedicated to his patients. In her nomination letter, Vice President of Clinical Services Susan Dempsey wrote, “Dr. Hergrueter is committed to his patients and will only accept the highest quality care for them. He truly believes that the patient needs to be at the center of all we do and our actions must support whatever is best for them. Beyond his compassion and excellent service to his patients, Dr. Hergrueter has been a wonderful leader for his plastic surgery colleagues here and a caring clinical partner to administration as we have strived to build the best surgical program possible. Dr. Hergrueter’s willingness to partner and his expectations of excellence have helped BWFH continuously improve the care we provide our patients.”

For Dr. Hergrueter, receiving the Sadowsky Award for Excellence is very meaningful. “I learned high standards from my clinical mentors and am very proud to be part of a team in Plastic Surgery whose focus is the patient from start to finish,” he says.
