BWFH welcomes new Nurse Director for 7 North and the Float Pool

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is pleased to welcome Michael Sanderson, MBA, BSN, RN, to the role of Nurse Director for 7 North and the Float Pool in a job title share with Juliet Gleason, MBA, MSN, RN.

Sanderson, a native of New Jersey, began his career as an EMT in the Army Reserves. He later attended nursing school at Southern Vermont College before moving to South Carolina. Throughout his nursing career, Sanderson has held a variety of roles both at the bedside and in leadership positions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was deployed as a travel nurse to Florida where he took on the challenge of Nursing Manager and later Director of Critical Care Services. In addition to his nursing degree, he holds an MBA and is currently working toward his DNP.

In Florida, Sanderson met his fiancé, a native of the Boston area, and made the decision to move north. “I knew I wanted to be part of the Brigham family,” he says. “And I wanted to get back into permanent leadership and be able to make an impact.”

Here at BWFH, he hopes to do just that. “It’s been great so far. Everyone is extremely friendly and very welcoming and helpful, which is not something I’m used to,” he says.

When he is not at work, Sanderson and his fiancé enjoy trying new restaurants, taking their French bulldog to the dog park and travel. In addition to house hunting and wedding planning, they are currently planning their next travel adventure to Dubai and Cairo.
