BWFH welcomes new Director of Patient Experience

Nichole Aguiar, LCSW, CPXP

Nichole Aguiar, LCSW, CPXP, recently joined Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in the newly created role of Director of Patient Experience. She comes to BWFH from CharterCARE Health Partners in Providence, RI, where she served as Patient Experience Officer.

Aguiar studied Psychology and Women’s Studies at Rhode Island College before earning her master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University. She is a licensed clinical social worker and is also a certified patient experience professional. “I’ve always been an advocate for patients,” she explains. “But I am also committed to quality improvement, organizational excellence and empowering teams. Those things combined lend themselves well to patient experience work.”

Here at BWFH, Aguiar will oversee Service Excellence, Patient/Family Relations, Interpreter Services, Information Services, Volunteer Services, Spiritual Care and the Taiclet Family Center.

She says she was drawn to this new role by the hospital’s reputation. “I was impressed by the 5-star CMS rating and the recent Magnet recognition. I wanted to be part of a winning team that puts patients first,” she says.

To do that, Aguiar plans to be out and about. “I want to get to know everyone in order to support, influence and help each of the teams within the hospital,” she says.

Aguiar is currently living in Swansea, MA, but plans to relocate in order to be closer to work. In the meantime, she is making the most of her long commute with audiobooks. She jokes, “I don’t expect to have a social life for the next six to eight weeks.” But after she settles into her new role and new home she hopes to get back to her hobbies: bowling, dancing and practicing yoga.
