BWFH physicians named Distinguished Clinicians

At a recent reception, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Dr. Charles Hergrueter, Dr. John Lewis, Dr. William Mullally, Dr. Stuart Quan, Dr. John Ready and Dr. Graeme Steele were honored alongside 29 other physicians with the Distinguished Clinician Award, which recognizes the most esteemed clinicians of the Brigham Health community of healers.

At BWFH, Dr. Hergrueter is an attending physician in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He says taking care of patients has always been the focus of his professional life. Of his Distinguished Clinician Award, he says, “It is an honor to be recognized by my peers. This is profoundly meaningful to me and I am very grateful.”

Dr. Lewis is Medical Director for Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Community Physicians, a primary care practice with offices in Hyde Park and West Roxbury. He says, “To have been chosen as a Distinguished Clinician is truly an honor and I am humbled to be included among such distinguished physicians. It is especially rewarding not only to be recognized as a PCP, but as a community-based PCP at that. I am privileged to be part of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Community Physicians and work side by side with such outstanding colleagues and support staff.”

Dr. Mullally is Associate Chief of Clinical Neurology at BWFH. He completed his neurology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1982 and has been an attending neurologist there since 1989. He says of his Distinguished Clinician Award, “I am fortunate to work with many of the top physicians in the world at the best hospital in the United States and am honored to receive this recognition.”

Dr. Quan is Clinical Chief in BWH’s Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders. At BWFH, he sees patients in the Sleep Medicine and Endocrinology Center. “I am deeply honored to be selected as a Distinguished Physician,” he says. “Improving the health of patients is a goal that I strive for every day I see patients in my practice.”

Dr. Ready is Chief of the Orthopedic Oncology Service at BWH and a surgeon at both BWH and BWFH. It was quite a humbling experience to be recognized as a Distinguished Clinician amongst my peers,” he says. “We strive to provide excellent care for our patient population and a positive educational experience for our medical students, residents and Fellows. I think we all believe that this is just part of our job and should not be considered something special. However, this type of recognition will lead to a feeling of a stronger connection with my role at Brigham Health.”

For urological surgeon Dr. Steele, the honor is really a recognition of the team with whom he works. “I am extremely humbled to be given this award, in the knowledge that there are many physicians more deserving than me,” he says. “One of the main reasons I love coming to work is because I regard it as an absolute honor to be part of this world class team. This award belongs to all of us in the Division of Urology.”
