Announcing the launch of the All of Us Research Program at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital

From the Desktop of Margaret Duggan, MD

As a valued member of the Brigham Health community, we are excited to share with you that Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has partnered with the All of Us Research Program. All of Us is a health research program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our goal is to help researchers better understand why people get sick or stay healthy.

As a Brigham Health employee at Faulkner Hospital, you can play an important part in revolutionizing medicine so each of us can receive the best care possible based on highly precise, personalized care. In the coming weeks, the All of Us team will share how you can get involved.

The mission of the All of Us Research Program is simple: to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs. To do this, All of Us is asking one million people to share their health data, and samples of blood and urine to build the largest health database of its kind. Researchers can use this data to conduct thousands of studies. This may help them find the next big medical breakthrough.

Health research should reflect the diversity of our country. All of Us is asking people from all over the United States to join. If you join, you will be asked about your health, habits, and what it’s like where you live. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health.

Please note that participation in the All of Us Research Program is completely optional. The study leadership and your immediate supervisors will not know whether you have enrolled, and your decision around participation will not have a positive or negative impact on your employment, either way.

Visit www.joinallofus.org to learn more and sign up. If you decide to join, you will need to go through a consent process.  We will also need for you to complete three brief, online surveys.  After that, we can meet up with you in person to finish the in-person research visit.

All your personal information will be kept confidential to the full extent of the law. Interest in learning more now does not require you to enroll in the All of Us Research Program.

If you would prefer to complete all portions of the program in-person, please contact us at AllofUs@Partners.org or 617-768-8300 to schedule your free research visit.

Together let’s create a healthier future for all of us.

Sincerely,

Margaret Duggan, MD
