Radiology Department welcomes new Ultrasound Supervisor

Ashley Cazeau, RDMS, earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the University of Connecticut and considered medical school before deciding to pursue a career as an ultrasound technologist. Four years after moving from Connecticut to Massachusetts to take a position at Emerson Hospital, she joins the Radiology Department at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital as their new Ultrasound Supervisor.

“I gained a lot of experience at Emerson Hospital,” she says. “But I was ready to do more. I felt like I had gained as much knowledge as I could there. It gave me a good foundation as a new grad, but after four years I was ready to take on more responsibility.”

Here at BWFH, Cazeau will do just that. She will see patients as well as handle new administrative duties that involve meetings, projects and organization.

“I wanted to work in the healthcare field first to see if it was something I really wanted,” she says of her decision to study to be an ultrasound technologist rather than apply to medical school after graduating from college. “Ultimately ultrasound was a great decision for me. It is more involved with anatomy. That was my strong point in high school and college. Now I know this is what I want to do.”

Cazeau has also made Massachusetts her home since moving from Connecticut by getting involved in the community and making friends through dance. “I started in salsa and bachata at Rumba y Timbal in Cambridge. I stayed there for a year before going to Moves and Vibes. I’m involved in the Kizomba team there,” she says.
