Human Resources Department welcomes new Employee Projects Coordinator

A familiar face at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has joined the Human Resources Department. Jessica Amado, a recent college graduate who has worked at BWFH since she was in high school in Food and Nutrition, has been named Employee Projects Coordinator.

While working at BWFH per diem and on weekends, Amado earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Services at Fitchburg State University. “I was planning to be a social worker, but when I got to practicums I changed my mind. It’s a great field, but it just wasn’t for me,” says Amado of her initial studies. “My first exposure to human resources was when I worked at Massport. I was their department intern for two years. I love every aspect of human resources. I’m very outgoing and it gives me a chance to shine.”

In her new role at BWFH, Amado will coordinate the Perks program and oversee the nomination process for the I CARE Award (BWFH intranet link) among many other responsibilities. And, since she’s already familiar with the hospital, she is settling in quickly. “I have good relationships with a lot of the staff already,” she says.

Outside of work, Amado enjoys traveling and has an interest in home décor. She completed an internship in Washington, DC, where she made many friends so she makes the trip often. She also enjoys spending time with her large family. “But right now I’m focused on my career,” she says. “I want to develop in my career and HR is definitely where I want to be.”
