Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Leadership Award was established in 2005 to recognize and honor a member of the leadership team for their outstanding contributions to both their department and to the hospital at large. The award is presented annually to a member of the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Leadership Council who demonstrates outstanding leadership, fosters creativity and supports innovation in all they do. At a recent Leadership Council meeting, Director of Pharmacy Services Joshua Guerin, PharmD, MBA, was presented with the 2022 Leadership Award.

Guerin was presented with his award by Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs Scott Schissel, MD, PhD. In his remarks, Dr. Schissel outlined the contributions Guerin has made to the hospital in his three years as Director of Pharmacy Services, including his work on quality and safety initiatives; improvements in efficiency and financial performance; guiding the pharmacy through the COVID-19 pandemic, renovations and staffing challenges; and initiated the establishment of the hospital’s first pharmacy residency program.

“Josh has very quietly and modestly elevated the quality, safety and performance of the BWFH pharmacy to its highest level in my tenure at this hospital,” he said. “Most impressive is Josh’s calm, approachable, collaborative ‘always say YES’ style and his high moral standards that make him such an invaluable partner and leader and critical to our mission of delivering the best patient care day in and day out.”

When asked how it felt to receive his Leadership Award, Guerin said it’s his staff who are truly responsible for the success of the department. “My team comes to work every day committed to doing the best for our patients and each other. I could not be successful in my role without their dedication. I am truly lucky to be able to lead such an exceptional team,” he said.
