2 South welcomes new Clinical Leader

Anna Costello, BSN, RN

Anna Costello, BSN, RN, has assumed the role of Clinical Leader on 2 South at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Costello is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where she discovered her love of psychiatric nursing. “I was very timid when I started my clinical rotation in psychiatry,” she says. “I needed someone to give me a push. After that, everything clicked.”

After a brief stint as a school nurse, rotating between elementary, middle and high school, Costello was able to focus her career on psychiatric nursing with a role at McLean Hospital. “I worked at McLean for four years. I started as a floor nurse, but after two years I began to take on some administrative responsibilities,” she says.

Her administrative experience at McLean included policy and procedure review, nursing informatics and participating in a working group that wrote proposals for the strategic planning committee. At BWFH, these skills make her a good fit for her new role as Clinical Leader.

While she gets to know the hospital and her unit, Costello says she feels confident in her decision to join the team at BWFH based on her interactions with and observations of the staff so far. “The people here are great. All of the staff is dedicated to patient care,” she says. “I know that I have a good team behind me.”

When she is not at work, Costello enjoys going to the gym, photography and taking her dog for walks and hikes. “We think she’s a Jack Russell/Corgi mix, so she requires a lot of exercise!” she says.
