Letters from our Patients and their Families

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

My experience with Kristen Benya is excellent, I have seen her for many years for Physical Therapy, and she’s been wonderful in every level. She explains things clearly, and most importantly gauges everything to me. She’s extremely knowledgeable about the human body. She has answers that other doctors haven’t given me, she just goes by my pace, she never pressures me, she encourages me. I can’t say enough good things about her, but not only her, but her attitude and professionalism.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

You guys are the best. I felt like I was being given complete attention by everyone I interacted with knowing there were other patients waiting to be seen. I never felt rushed or that I was an inconvenience. I left there convinced I had received not only the best surgical procedure but the most compassionate and thorough provider care. God bless you and your complete staff. Medicine is a business and I never felt like a client, I felt like a person who was being cared for with respect, dignity and thoroughness.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

On a scale of 1 to 10, my experience was a 20!!! All of my prior appointments at BWFH were on weekdays. I had always used the valet to park my car. I arrived for my MRI on a Sunday morning. I did not expect that valet services were not available on Sundays. I parked my car in the Belkin lot. I walked up the hill to the entrance of BWFH and was exhausted and greeted by a smiling and friendly MRI technician. I told her I needed to rest a moment and drink some water. She was so kind and understanding of my exhaustion. I proceeded to prepare for my test. When my test was over, I was overwhelmed by her sincere kindness. While I was getting dressed, she got a wheelchair. When I opened the dressing room door I was in tears of happiness when she told me she was going to wheel me back to my car. When I reached the exit gate with my parking ticket, she was waiting there for me to see if I needed help with my credit card and ticket. She turned what started out as a difficult experience into a relaxed experience. During the entire length of my MRI I was thinking to myself I did not know how I was going to make it back to my car. The technician’s name was Lauren. I hope others will receive the care and kindness I received without asking. She went above and beyond her job description. Thank you BWFH.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

I would like to thank the team in Breast Imaging. It was an excellent seamless experience. I normally go into MGH, but switched this year due to change in coverage. At BWFH I experienced pleasant, kind and caring staff. I was called and told that my mammogram was normal and they looked forward to seeing me next year for my appointment. The most significant aspect of the experience was that I was asked to book my mammogram appointment date for the following year. This one gesture personifies high standards of medical care follow through, follow up and patient centered care. Thank you.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

The doctors, the main doctors, the assistant doctor, the anesthesiologist, the nurses, the assistant nurses, even the woman who wheeled my chair to the bathroom and wheeled me out to go back in the car were absolutely 100% wonderful. The doctors certainly explained everything. Everybody explained everything to me. BWFH, to me, is the ideal hospital. Not too big, not too small, good quality of care. All the equipment you could possibly want is there. I had a great experience, 100%. And thank you very much... You’re doing fine. Just keep it up. That’s the important part. Keep it up so everybody has an experience like I had.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

I would like to commend Cathy, she was my nurse at BWFH. She made me feel safe. She made me feel at home. She made me feel heard. By far, probably the best nurse, and individual, I’ve come across at your hospital. Thank you so much for having her. She’s a wonderful human.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

I was a patient in your Emergency Department and want to report my experience.

The staff was simply outstanding, from Doug, the nurse who admitted me, to Sarah, my nurse, to Heather, my NP, and numerous others including the young technician who gave me an EKG—I believe his name was Nathan—as well as those who administered CAT-Scans and X-rays. Everywhere I was greeted with warm smiles, helpfulness and professional expertise. It was very impressive. There were no exceptions, and so I wanted you to know. Please give these wonderful people my highest praise and warmest thanks.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

When I first arrived for my surgery in the morning I was extremely nervous and anxious about it. Phyllis (nurse) in pre-op made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease. Made me smile and laugh. She’s so good at her job and deserves a shoutout! Even the nurse in post-op was amazing as well (if only I could remember her name). Amazing team all around.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

The nurses and providers in the ED and in the ED obs were wonderful. It was the first time I was validated with my issue that had been going on for weeks. I feel like I finally had answers and the care I needed to start improving. I wish I could remember all their names, but they did a wonderful job even despite me being a hard stick!

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

My two nurses, Peggy in pre-op and Kathy in the PACU, were both unbelievably kind and compassionate. My procedure was moved up and there was definitely a push on Peggy to get through my pre-op routine, but she never passed that stress onto me. She made sure she explained each step and took the time to discuss everything with me despite the time crunch. In the PACU, Kathy was one of the most empathetic nurses I’ve ever encountered. I was a little emotional and she took the time to sit with me for a minute and get me comfortable. She listened to me and when I left, I couldn’t stop telling my friends and family how much that extra time she took with me meant. Overall, the nursing staff exceeded my expectations and made a difference in not only my care but my life.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

I was very impressed and happy with my care. My anesthesiologist was absolutely lovely—she knew I was nervous and came close to me and held my hand and reassured me. And Dr. Lambert has the best bed side manner too, always does, so the procedure, including prep and afterwards (with the nurse that helped me dress) was a breeze. I will not be afraid of surgery in the future. Thank you.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

The nursing staff was absolutely amazing, in all areas of the hospital. The nurses should be commended on their depth of knowledge as well as how well they care for everyone. I was very impressed by how well run everything was. The anesthesia team was beyond amazing—the anesthesiologist was so precise I felt completely at ease with him in charge. Every detail of my comfort was considered and I was extremely impressed and grateful for this.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

The nurses are absolutely fantastic. I specifically go to this facility for the nurses on the infusion floor. They have worked with me for years to wrangle the docs, orders, blood requests, etc. to help me advocate for myself and receive the very best care. I can’t thank them enough. This last appointment, Ms. Monica was wonderfully kind as always, making a rough time much easier to manage. Thank you BWFH infusion!!!

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

My experience was remarkable. This is the second time I've gone to the emergency room with something that I considered very serious. All my needs were met. I was completely calmed down by everyone on the staff.. Everybody was fabulous, all the doctors and the nurses, and the staff and everyone who did the testing.

Dear Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,

Recently, I visited your hospital emergency room for the first time due to a referral from a friend and former colleague. During my observation in the emergency room, I saw the staff of your department doing their best to save the lives of patients and treating them equally regardless of their rank. My medical records were thoroughly examined and analyzed in the emergency department. I was touched by the efficiency and professionalism of your staff, and I was amazed by the quality of your work. I have experienced the emergency departments at MGH and BWH and your emergency care is first class, as good as or better than theirs. I would like to thank the doctors in charge of my medical records, Paul S. Jansson, MD, MS, and David Matthew Cordell, PA, for being responsible and doing their best to give me a careful examination and treatment, a complete and detailed analysis of the examination reports and even making an appointment with a specialist for me for later consideration. I would like to express my sincere admiration and gratitude!
