Summer jobs program gives local high school students the chance to explore a career in healthcare

Each year, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Department coordinates a summer jobs program that has a lasting impact on both the hospital and the students. By working with the Boston Private Industry Council, BWFH is able to provide local high school students the opportunity to learn about careers in the healthcare industry. This summer, 13 students from Boston Public Schools participated in the program.

"This year, we had students working in all areas of the hospital, including Materials Management, Transport, Rehabilitation Services, Radiology, Food and Nutrition and our Information Desk," says Katie Plante, Community Health and Wellness Program Manager at BWFH. "In addition to their work experience, they also had the opportunity to participate in two finance workshops with CFA Society Boston."
