Rec named Respiratory Manager

People, Skills and Capabilities

Nancy Rec, RRT, has been named Respiratory Manager at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. In this new role, she will oversee all aspects of both the outpatient and inpatient Respiratory Therapy Department, including budget, payroll and new hire onboarding.

Rec began her career at BWFH in 1990 as a staff respiratory specialist. “I was actually a student here and when I graduated there was a position offered to me so I took it. The rest is history,” she says.

Over the years, Rec has taken on more and more responsibility within the department, eventually becoming Clinical Coordinator, a role she held up until accepting the Respiratory Manager position. “It’s a great environment to work in and the flexibility in the schedule in our department is great,” she says of her decision to make her career here at BWFH. “We’re very small and we work well as a unit to help each other out.”

When she is not at work, Rec enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Rec’s husband is a nurse in BWFH’s Pre-Op Holding. “For the longest time we worked opposite schedules so that one of us could be home to take care of the kids,” she says of their work/life balance. “Now they are grown and we often work the same days and have the same weekends off. We spend a lot more time together now.”
