Brigham Health announces new Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer

Brigham Health recently announced its new Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer. Andrew Resnick, MD, MBA, who currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of Froedtert Hospital (FH), Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs Adult Practice and Associate Professor of General Surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), will join Brigham Health on October 28 as the newest member of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

After conducting a national search that yielded a deep and diverse slate of candidates, it was clear that Dr. Resnick's devotion to quality, safety and exceptional patient care, combined with his extensive physician leadership experience and operational expertise, make him an excellent fit for this vitally important role. Dr. Resnick's central motivation is to transform healthcare, creating a patient-centered care delivery system that is high quality and cost effective for hospitals, providers, payers and patients, and provides a patient-focused experience for its customers. As CMO and Associate Dean at FH and MCW, Dr. Resnick has oversight of clinical performance as well as clinical operations, and has helped drive improvements in quality, efficiency, cost, access, staff engagement and patient experience across the 614-bed acute care hospital and a multi-specialty group with more than 1,350 physicians, 500 advanced practice providers and other practitioners.

Dr. Resnick was previously at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center where he served as Chief Quality Officer. There, he had a profound impact on quality and safety. He led development of inter-professional, unit-based quality teams to empower frontline staff, as well as clinical and operational leaders to impact patient care quality and safety at the local level. Dr. Resnick started his professional career at the University of Pennsylvania, where he oversaw many quality improvement activities across the organization, and ultimately served as the Chief Surgical Quality Officer. Dr. Resnick graduated from Dartmouth College and Yale University School of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and earned an MBA at The Wharton School.

Dr. Resnick grew up in Newton, so this move represents a homecoming, and he will be joined by his wife, Lela, and their two children, Ahlena and Will.
