Annual shoe drive benefits Boston's homeless at the Pine Street Inn

Annual shoe drive

Members of Brigham and Women’s Foot and Ankle Center at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital recently held their annual shoe drive at the Pine Street Inn. This year they distributed 200 pairs of shoes and wool socks to the homeless. Clinical foot screenings were also provided.

Many of the homeless were especially grateful for new shoes and warm socks at this time of year. The experience was equally rewarding for members of the team, who all took time out of their clinical practices to volunteer. “Our team always looks forward to helping out at Pine Street.  This year I’d especially like to thank Molly Carleen, one of our Physician Assistants who worked tirelessly to spearhead the event,” says Dr. Christopher Chiodo, Chief of the Foot and Ankle Service at BWFH. “Her efforts, along with the rest of the team, truly made an impact.”

Carleen was happy to lend a hand. “It was especially meaningful to have our event the week after Thanksgiving,” she says. “We were able to provide each guest with a pair of warm boots which can provide protection from the cold winter months.”

Those present included Drs. Christopher Chiodo, Joseph Hartigan, Jeremey Smith, Eric Bluman, Adam Sangeorzan and Seth O’Donnell, Physician Assistants Molly Carleen, Shari Vigneau and Justine Kramer, Medical Assistants Kelly Walsh and Ariana Lafavre, and Research Assistant Abdurrahman Abdurrob.
