Caring for LGBTQ Patients at BWFH

It is the policy of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (BWFH) to treat all patients and not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, citizenship, alienage, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age or disability.

In addition to the Brigham LGBTQ & Friends Employee Resource Group and the online trainings and other resources that are available to staff, BWFH is working hard to ensure that our LGBTQ patients feel welcome and accepted. Some of our recent work includes:

Caring for LGBTQ Patients: A Forum for Clinicians, Staff and Patients

BWH Center for Patients and Families, Brigham LGBTQ & Friends Employee Resource Group, BWH/BWFH Public Affairs and Nursing and Patient Care Services’ Diversity & Inclusiveness Committee recently hosted a forum to raise awareness about and identify best practices for creating a welcoming environment for our LGBT patients. National Coming Out Day at BWH: View Recording

BWFH and BWH celebrated National Coming Out Day with an event hosted by the Brigham LGBTQ & Friends Employee Resource Group. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey delivered the keynote address on LGBT health. The inaugural LGBT leadership awards were given to Carrie Braverman, Kerstin Palm and Harry Reyes Nieva.
