Virtual Visits: Care that Never Stops

At Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, we provide convenient ways to access care. Virtual Visits are one-on-one video or phone appointments with your health care provider. These visits allow you to get medical care and guidance from the comfort of your own home. Whether it's a follow-up appointment, or a first-time consultation about a procedure or surgery, our specialists are here to help you. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and more are here to help you stay connected to care.

Schedule a Brigham Virtual Visit today and see how our care never stops.

Advantages of Virtual Visits

Our health care providers can help established or new patients stay on track with medical care that’s personalized to their needs. During a Virtual Visit, your health care provider can:

  • Address a new medical concern (like new symptoms or changes in your health)
  • Follow up on a specific health condition
  • Review or order lab work, imaging or test results
  • Answer questions about a medication or therapy, order a new medication or refill a prescription
  • Discuss an upcoming procedure or surgery

How Virtual Visits Work

Our practices offer care that comes to you, and not the other way around. Virtual Visits are conducted through a video conference platform on Patient Gateway or Zoom, or via phone call.

Frequently Asked Questions about Virtual Visits

How do I know I know if my visit should be virtual or in-person?

Your health care provider and care team will determine whether a Virtual Visit is appropriate for you or whether you need to schedule an in-person visit.

How can I try a Virtual Visit?

To schedule a Virtual Visit (or to discuss whether an in-person appointment would be more beneficial), call your physician's office directly to discuss.

If you do not know the number for your doctor's office, visit our Programs and Services page, click on your department and then click on Contact Us for that department. You can also search for your doctor by name on our Find-A-Doc website.

Can my caregiver or family member join my Virtual Visit?

Yes. Caregivers, family members and others can join Virtual Visits from your location or remotely from another location.

Are interpreters available for Virtual Visits?

Full interpreter services are offered for all Virtual Visits.

What are the technology requirements?

Virtual Visits require:

  • Reliable internet access
  • A tablet, smartphone, or video-enabled desktop or laptop computer

Prior to a scheduled Virtual Visit, patients will be sent information on how to access their appointment.

Virtual Visits can be conducted using the Patient Gateway or Zoom platforms. A link to the appropriate platform will be provided ahead of the scheduled visit.

Please note: Providers are also offering Virtual Visits by phone for patients who do not have access to video technology.

What is the cost?

If your insurance covers Virtual Visits, you will be responsible for your standard insurance office visit co-pay.

Can I share imaging results with my provider for a Virtual Visit?

Yes. You may schedule an imaging appointment at any Brigham Health location and your images will be sent to your provider in advance of your Virtual Visit.
