Visitor Information

Visiting a BWFH Patient

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital recognizes the important role that family members and visitors play in promoting the well being of patients. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital does not restrict, limit, or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, citizenship, alienage, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age or disability. Please speak with your nurse about respectful visiting hours that will allow us to continue delivering high quality, safe care while allowing patients to interact with loved ones.

Mask and Screening Policy Update

Please note that our screening and masking policies have changed effective May 12, 2023 following the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. Learn more about our mask and screening policies

Visitation Policies

All potential visitors and Support Persons (including parents/caregivers of pediatric patients, attorneys of patients, and designated support persons for patients with disabilities) should review the following policies:

Inpatients

Patients admitted to the hospital are allowed up to two visitors at a time from 11 am to 8 pm. Support Persons are considered in addition to the patient visitors. Please note that in some situations, we may need to restrict visits more than the above.

Those wishing to visit a patient on our 2 South Inpatient Psychiatry unit may visit from 5 to 8 pm Monday-Friday and 12 noon to 8 pm Saturday/Sunday/Holidays. The unit secretary can be reached at 617-983-7211.

Outpatient Visitors

One patient visitor or support person is allowed in outpatient areas (areas for patients who are not admitted to the hospital, for example, in the emergency room, surgical or procedural rooms, or clinics). Please note that in some situations, we may need to limit visitors to ensure patient and staff safety.

If you would like to share feedback about your experience with us, please contact our Patient and Family Relations team by calling 617-983-4507 between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, or email us at BWFHPFR@partners.org.

Check your symptoms

Please delay your visit to one of our facilities if:

  1. You develop any of the following symptoms:
    Fever or chills
    Cough, congestion, or runny nose
    Vomiting or diarrhea
    New skin rash (with fever)

    OR
  2. You are diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19 within 10 days of an appointment.

Visitor Behavior

Visitors are expected to help keep our hospital a safe place for all patients, visitors and staff by:

  • frequently washing their hands or using the hand sanitizer available across the hospital campus
  • Visitors are not permitted to wait inside the hospital prior to or after their visit.
  • If you cannot find childcare and need to bring your child under the age of 18 years old with you, the child will need to join you in the exam room. Children must be supervised at all times.

Visitors who are unable to comply with the rules above may be asked to leave our facility. Find more details in the full Mass General Brigham Visitor Policy including requirements for visitors and support persons.

Visitor Inquiries

Family and friends seeking information about a patient's condition or looking for their room number/telephone number can call 617-983-7101 or go to the 3rd floor Information Desk. Please note that patients have the right to limit access to information and condition.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to maintain the safest possible environment for our community.
