We Care: Recent I CARE winners go above and beyond to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care

Fall 2018 I CARE Winners

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. This fall, the Rewards and Recognition Committee has delivered I CARE Awards to staff members from throughout the hospital.

Among them were:

Kenny Hernandez and Al Malagon from the Maintenance Department who provided tools to the Emergency Department when they needed to cut off a patient’s steel toe boot after a foot injury.  Hernandez and Malagon not only had the tools needed, they even stayed to assist with removing the boot.

6 South’s Megan Dowling, RN, who, while caring for a homeless patient, called her own dad and asked him to bring in a winter coat for her patient.

2 South’s Mohamed Sesay, MHW, who was able to step in with a calm demeanor to convince a patient who was apprehensive about entering the unit to enter without any struggle.

Dr. Rahul Gupta, who is new to the Department of Psychiatry, was nominated for his willingness to take on extra tasks to relieve stress on the support staff.

Do you know a BWFH employee who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate BWFH’s I CARE Standards? To nominate a fellow colleague for an I CARE Award, please visit Vitals. A team of colleagues will personally recognize the employee by presenting them with balloons, a thank you card and a gift certificate redeemable in the cafeteria or Atrium Cafe. At the end of the year, all I CARE Award recipients will be invited to a reception.
