Radiology staff earn certification

2019 Radiology Certifications

The Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is committed to employing expert staff who are highly skilled in their modalities. As part of this commitment, several staff members recently earned certifications from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

The ARDMS administers examinations and awards credentials in specialized areas of ultrasound. Through its mission, ARDMS empowers sonographers to provide exceptional patient care through rigorous assessments and continual learning. Here at BWFH, four technologists, Elizabeth Chaisson, Anna Frausini, Amanda Ranieri and Lisa Shelley, earned certification in OB/GYN and Susannah Reidell earned certification in Abdomen.

Ultrasounds Supervisor Ashley Cazeau says she couldn’t be more proud of her staff. “Not only is earning certification a huge step for each of them in their careers, it’s also important to our patients who expect the highest level of care here at BWFH,” she says.

The ARRT is the world’s largest organization offering credentials in medical imaging, interventional procedures and radiation therapy. The group certifies and registers technologists in a range of disciplines by overseeing and administering education, ethics and examination requirements. BWFH’s Christina Luchini recently earned her certification in Computed Tomography (CT).

Radiology Program Manager for Diagnostic X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, MRI and Interventional Radiology/Nephrology Rakesh Kannan agrees with Cazeau that earning certification is both good for staff and the hospital’s patients. “Specialized training, evidenced by certification, speaks volumes for the technologist. It means they are committed to bettering themselves and the care they provide their patients,” he says.
