Performance Improvement Consultant gains insight into CPIP at system-wide retreat

Performance Improvement team members meet at Assembly Row

Mass General Brigham’s Clinical Process Improvement Leadership Program (CPIP) is an inter-professional, team-based educational program open to physicians, nurses, other clinicians and administrators across the system. The program is taught by Performance Improvement (PI) team members and aims to give participants the tools they need to evaluate and improve a process at their own institution. At the close of the most recent CPIP session, the PI team gathered for a retreat to evaluate the session’s success and plan for the next. Among the participants was Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Performance Improvement Consultant Cate Raftery.

“I am new to the organization, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in the CPIP retreat,” says Raftery. “Not only was I able to meet my colleagues from across the system in person, but I was able to learn about the CPIP program and witness first-hand how the PI teams works.”

The half-day retreat, which took place at Assembly Row, included introductions, discussion of what went well and what could be improved for the next session with time for those who taught to share details about their experience working on specific projects.

“After attending the retreat, I’m looking forward to observing the September CPIP session, where there will be four teams from BWFH, and hopefully teaching the next one,” says Raftery.
