Mass General Brigham working with community organizations to fight hunger - including one of BWFH’s neighbors!

Seeking to help address the high and rising rates of food insecurity and disproportionate impact on vulnerable communities, Mass General Brigham recently announced that it is working with 12 community organizations to address unmet needs facing Mass General Brigham patients and members of our communities. Among the organizations that will benefit from the more than $520,000 in funding is First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain. “The funds for the church were given so that they could move to a larger more adequate space,” says Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Director of Community Health and Wellness Tracy Sylven, CHHC, MCHES. “This will allow not only for more efficient work, but also allow for them to increase capacity—both getting families off the waiting list as well as leaving room to grow for the future.” To read the full press release, click here.

COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 vaccine requirement: Deadlines rapidly approaching

Compliance with Mass General Brigham’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy is rapidly approaching. To meet the October 15 deadline for Pfizer, staff need to have received their first dose of Pfizer no later than September 23. The Johnson & Johnson is a single dose vaccine and must be received and documented by October 15. Unvaccinated staff should not wait until the last minute.

  • At Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, staff may schedule their vaccine through Occupational Health by calling 617-983-4628 or visit our mobile vaccine clinic (see more information below).
  • Vaccination status is not shared automatically. Employees must go to vaccinecheck.massgeneralbrigham.org to share their Mass General Brigham vaccination record with Occupational Health or submit proof of vaccination to Occupational Health Services by October 15 if you were vaccinated outside of Mass General Brigham.
  • The Mass General Brigham COVID-19 Vaccine Navigator helpline has agents available who can help employees schedule their COVID-19 vaccination—at a Mass General Brigham site or elsewhere in the community. Call 617-724-9600.

Additional information about obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine can be found on The Pulse.
