The Fall and Winter Holidays represent different things for each person. This can include positive experiences (hope, connection) and or challenges (loneliness, grief, stress, conflict, financial concerns). In reality, life doesn’t always mirror social media or advertising. This year, due to the Pandemic, there is an extra over-lay of grief, stress and anxiety, related to loss, isolation, and complications (due to restrictions on travel and gathering). Here are some great resources to help you cope and stay healthy during this holiday season.
If you are finding it difficult to navigate any of these challenges, please don’t hesitate to contact the EAP for confidential assistance at 866-724-4327.
Mass General Center for Addiction Medicine suggests you focus on noticing kindness and doing kind things: savoring the moment; reliving positive experiences; and noticing good things that are also happening. We’re doing our best to do everything right – masking within 6 feet, washing our hands, monitoring symptoms, staying home when sick and getting our COVID-19 vaccination. But we know that up to 50 percent of people who are diagnosed with COVID-19 may not have symptoms when they are initially infectious. That means we have to keep doing everything we can to keep all of us safe. This includes being cautious when we need to remove our masks to eat or drink. Upholding our Safe Care Commitment during meal breaks can be challenging – but it can be done by following these guidelines.
Recently, a safety report was submitted by Central Sterile staff regarding an equipment issue. Read the complete edition of Last Week In Patient Safety (intranet).
