EAP Encourages Gratitude

We hear the word gratitude more often this time of year, yet there are reasons to think about gratitude more regularly, especially given the challenges we have faced in 2020. Practicing gratitude is being aware of the things worth appreciating. Take a moment to write down some of things you’re grateful for, no matter how big or small – food on your table, a beautiful sunset or a sturdy umbrella. With practice and attention, your gratitude list may grow. Check out this article on gratitude or speak confidentially with an EAP counselor at 866-724-4327.

Cafeteria Now Offering Call Ahead Lunch Order Service

BWFH staff can call the cafeteria between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm at extension 1301 to place a lunch order for pickup. Orders will be ready in either 15 or 30 minutes and will be available for pickup in the cubbies outside the cafeteria. Call ahead items can be chosen from a limited menu (intranet link) that includes salads, wraps, the daily hot entrée and sides, drinks, chips and desserts, and staff will be able to prepay for their meal by payroll deduction or credit card. This new service is intended to help cut down on the number of people in the cafeteria during lunchtime so that we can all maintain proper social distancing protocols. Questions or comments? Contact John Dantona.

COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Vaccine Updates: Wave A, B, C and D Now Open

COVID-19 vaccinations scheduling is now open for all employees in Waves A, B, C and D. This means that all employees who are primarily based at a location where health care is delivered will be eligible to schedule a vaccination appointment

  • Please note per the Employee COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, and in accordance with public health guidance, employees with a COVID-related infection status (COVID-19, CoV-Presumed, CoV-Risk or CoV-Exposed) in Epic will not be able to schedule a vaccination appointment in COVID Pass until the infection status is resolved. For more information, please see here.
  • According to our eligibility criteria, staff who work 100% remotely are not yet eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Remote employees will be able to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine from Mass General Brigham at the appropriate time that they are eligible within the state’s established vaccination phases.
  • Need help using COVID Pass to schedule your vaccination appointment? Please see the FAQs at the end of the tip sheet or call the Mass General Brigham IS Service Desk.

Post-Vaccination Symptom Testing Reminders

Staff who have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine should follow the After COVID Vaccination Tip Sheet for Employees, for a guide on checking your symptoms within the first three days after receiving your vaccine, what to do if you experience any side effects and any work restrictions based on your reaction. This tip sheet has recently been updated to reflect a modification to the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that now requires testing for mild post-vaccination reactions/symptoms only if they last for more than one day during the three-day post-vaccination period.

Employee Asymptomatic Testing at BWFH

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital continues to offer on-site COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic (no signs of illness) staff members free of charge, with results returned to you approximately 24-36 hours later.  Learn more and schedule a test.

Answering Patient Questions About Vaccine Availability

We know that many people are starting to receive questions from patients who are anxious to get the vaccine. At this point, the vaccine is not available for the majority of our patients or the general public. Please review these resources:

  • The best place for patients to get up-to-date information about the vaccine, including Frequently Asked Questions, is on the vaccine section of massgeneralbrigham.org.
  • As we get additional information, we will communicate directly with patients through Patient Gateway.
  • You can download the patient FAQs and patient talking points on Pulse.
  • For clinicians: The patient FAQs have been added as a smartphrase in Epic.

FAQ for Pregnant/Breastfeeding Staff Now Available

Pregnant or breastfeeding and considering the COVID-19 vaccination? FAQs on this topic, which were developed with input from the obstetrics experts at the Brigham, are available on Mass General Brigham Pulse.
