Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s I CARE Award recognizes staff members from all areas of the hospital who go above and beyond their regular job responsibilities to make BWFH a great place to work and receive care. Stanley Lamothe from Materials Management was a recent recipient of an I CARE Award.

Lamothe was nominated for his I CARE Award by the 7 North Unit Based Council. In a nomination letter written on behalf of the council, staff nurse Ron Cassesso wrote:

Stanley plays a crucial role in providing high quality care to our patients. After COVID, the patient population in the hospital has changed. The average length of stay in the hospital has increased, leading to a higher demand for the supplies needed to care for our patients. We are utilizing supplies at a faster rate than ever before as we accommodate such changes. This poses challenges and adds stress for those in Materials Management. Nonetheless, Stanley has and continues to go above and beyond to ensure that not only 7 North but many other areas of the hospital are appropriately stocked with supplies. When Stanley comes in for his evening shift, he meticulously examines the supply closets and determines (1) which items are in need and (2) the appropriate quantity for each item. Not long after, he returns with two U-boats (filled to the brim with boxes) and stocks the supply room neatly and accordingly. It’s always a relief to see Stanley because everyone knows our supply closets will be fully stocked shortly!

Moreover, Stanley is always receptive to his pager. If there are special requests for miscellaneous supplies, Stanley will promptly bring the items up to the unit. If the item is down in the warehouse, Stanley will be able to find it. If Stanley can’t find it, the item is out of stock. He is always willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of the unit. Despite the added workload and stress, Stanley does all of this with a smile on his face. He performs his job exceptionally well and always carries a positive attitude. He is hardworking, friendly and dependable. Without Stanley, patient care on 7 North would suffer. He is an integral part of the team. For these reasons and more, we feel that Stanley Lamothe should be formally recognized for all that he does each and every day. Thank you, Stanley!!
