Inpatient Psychiatry welcomes new Social Work Supervisor

Erica Jensen, LICSW

Erica Jensen, LICSW, recently joined the Psychiatry Department at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in the role of Inpatient Social Work Supervisor.

Jensen graduated from Clark University with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in women’s studies before earning her master of social work degree with a concentration in health and mental health at Boston College. She most recently worked for McLean Hospital.

In her new role on 2 South, Jensen functions as the primary therapist on some cases and the family worker on other cases. She also supervises two social workers on the unit.

When she began her career, Jensen thought she wanted to work with children. “In graduate school I started working with adults with schizophrenia and I found that I loved it,” she says. “Ever since then, I have been on this path. I like the challenge and I like being able to help families who have a family member with a mental health issue. I also understand how the system works and I enjoy helping families navigate it, because it can be really difficult.”

She says she was attracted to the position here at BWFH because of the opportunity to take on a leadership role. “I’ve also heard really good things about BWFH and the Department of Psychiatry. And so far, everyone has been really nice and really helpful and really positive,” she says.

When she is not at work, Jensen enjoys gardening and reading.
