Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile makes a stop at BWFH

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile―the traveling extension of the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center―recently visited Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, giving employees and members of the community the opportunity to do their part by giving blood to support patients undergoing cancer treatments, accident victims, transplant recipients and more.

At the event, coordinated by Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Program Manager Katie Plante, 35 donors volunteered yielding 29 units of blood. Those who donated were treated to a Kraft Family Blood Donor Center umbrella as a thank you gift.

“We always have a great turn-out from BWFH staff and members of the surrounding community when the blood mobile visits BWFH,” says Plante. “I am very grateful to those who took time out of their busy day to donate blood.”

If you missed your chance to donate blood this time, don’t worry. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile will return to BWFH on Tuesday, August 2. Or you may visit the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center. To schedule an appointment, visit the Kraft Center website or call 617-632-3206.
