Department of Radiology sponsors Boston LUNG FORCE Expo

LUNG FORCE 2019

The American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Expo is geared toward patients, caregivers and healthcare providers. The event is an opportunity to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding lung cancer, COPD and other chronic lung diseases. Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s Department of Radiology was a local sponsor of the recent event and hosted an information table.

Radiology CT Supervisor Jessica Lorusso and Radiology Project Coordinator Sabrina Klein represented the department at the event. “We were able to provide information about lung cancer screening, and our program specifically, to patients, caregivers and providers,” says Klein. “It was a great opportunity for us to share the work we do, connect with the people we serve and promote the importance of lung cancer screening.”

The group had the opportunity to share recent results of BWFH’s Lung Cancer Screening Program. Klein says, “Last year we performed over 1,000 lung cancer screening exams. Nearly half of these patients had never been screened before. Awareness about lung cancer screening is growing and allows us to catch cancer early. Being part of the LUNG FORCE Expo gave us a unique opportunity to reach out and spread this message.”
