Chief of Psychiatry receives award for medical student education

John Fromson, MD

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Chief of Psychiatry John Fromson, MD, has been named the recipient of the 2019-2020 Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD, Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and its Council on Medical Education and Lifelong Learning.

In addition to his role as Chief, Dr. Fromson is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and has long been dedicated to helping shape the future of mental health care. “Teaching and mentoring Harvard Medical School students is an incredibly rewarding experience,” he says. “You have the privilege of guiding them to acquire essential knowledge and skills as well as watching them reach their full potential as future physicians. An added benefit is that the process makes me a better physician through life-long learning.”

Dr. Fromson says he is deeply honored to have received this award, which is given annually to APA members who have made outstanding and sustaining contributions to medical student education.
