BWFH welcomes new women's health surgeon

Susan Celia Hellerstein, MD, MPH

Susan Celia Hellerstein, MD, MPH, who specializes in obstetrics/gynecology and women’s health at the Gretchen S. and Edward A. Fish Center for Women’s Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, recently began operating at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Dr. Hellerstein studied medicine at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and completed her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also serves as an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School.

In the OR here at BWFH, Dr. Hellerstein will perform dilation and curettage (D&C) hysteroscopy, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and laparoscopy and laparotomy for benign gynecologic conditions performing ovarian cystectomies, hysterectomy, oophorectomy, salpingectomy and more. She says she very much looks forward to her time in the OR. “I am impressed with the warm welcome at BWFH and look forward to working with the OR staff and providing patients with a great and caring experience.”

When she is not at work, Dr. Hellerstein enjoys running, biking, hiking, cooking and spending time with her husband and three children.
